SOCIAL IMPACT PROJECTS

Ggaba Centre for Disabled Children.

 

Cerebral Palsy is a condition caused by Ggaba’s extreme poverty. The centre exists to care for & develop 30 C.P. suffers & their families.
In 2018 Crest IT agreed to fund Ggaba’s physiotherapy service to ensure all children can walk by 2021.

Tangalle School for Deaf and Blind Children.

Deaf children are educationally disadvantaged in modern Sri Lanka. Tangalle Deaf School provides deaf boys with carpentry training & Egerbyg decided to help.
The company has funded an 8 week kitchen restoration project in the Blind School designed, managed & completed by two deaf students as part of their education.

HomeRun Project.

As homelessness in ABS’s home city approached crisis point ABS created the HomeRun project to provide training facilities, coaching, transport & clothing for homeless people to engage with exercise.
In September 2018 ten participants completed Newcastle’s Great North Run. Four have begun working again since & the program continues today.

Eliya Childrens Home.

Electricity was a major expense for Eliya, representing 35% of running costs. In response to the rising cost of food, clothing & school transport, ABS funded the installation of 24 solar panels costing €6,000. Electricity bills fell from 3,600 rupees per month to 240.
18 months later the savings paid for the building of a covered kitchen.

Eliya Childrens Home.

Eliya needed an infirmary where sick children could be isolated temporarily from the main house while they recovered.
ABS funded the 2 storey, 110 sq meter infirmary, with upstairs accommodation for live-in House Mothers, which was completed in 3 months (on budget at €11,000) & is in constant use.
